Biphasic Mesothelioma is one of the three cell types of Mesothelioma cancer. It is also referred to as "mixed" because it has characteristics of Epithelioid and Sarcomatoid cell types. Biphasic Mesothelioma Symptoms
General symptoms most patients experience before diagnosis are shortness of breath, cough, and chest pain. The problem is that these symptoms generally apply to many conditions, so they are not good indicators by themselves.
As the disease progresses, additional symptoms may also include:

Diagnosing Biphasic Mesothelioma

Typically a tissue biopsy is required to make an official diagnosis of Biphasic Mesothelioma.
The analysis of needle-core will show both epithelioid and sarcomatoid cell types. A fluid biopsy is also possible, but it can be difficult to capture both types of cells in the fluid.
Biphasic Mesothelioma Treatment
The treatment options for Epithelioid Mesothelioma mainly consists of chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy.
Combination therapies and surgical intervention are called a multimodal approach: the choice of treatment or combination of medicines depends on the tumor location and stage.
Biphasic and Epithelioid tumors are better candidates for surgical interventions.
Combination (multimodal) treatments generally have better results because the cancer is made up of different cell types that respond differently to each treatment type.
More aggressive treatment plans are often better suited for Biphasic Mesothelioma patients with a higher percentage of epithelioid cells.
