Who Was Exposed To Asbestos?
(It Only Take A Few Seconds To Find Out How Much Money Is Available For Your Case)

Veterans have a higher mesothelioma diagnosis rate than the general population because Asbestos was used on military equipment and bases for most of the past century. The honorable men and women who serving in our nation's armed forces put themselves in harm's way. Tragically for many service members, harm can come in the form of service-related cancer from Asbestos exposure.

Military Asbestos Exposure & Mesothelioma

While veterans represent just 8% of our nation's population, veterans comprise 30% of all known Mesothelioma diagnoses in the country.

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, there are currently more than 25 million people who have served in at least one of the United States military branches. We at the Flint Law Firm are proud of this rich tradition. We count many of our families among those who have served their country. As a firm, we are happy to help our veterans in any way we can.

Veterans Asbestos Exposure Risks by Service Branch

Unfortunately, one legacy of military service is that our military bases, shipyards, planes, vehicles, and ships have the potential for causing Asbestos exposure. Due to this Asbestos exposure, service members have a much higher risk of developing Mesothelioma or Asbestos Lung Cancer than the general population.

The length of time it takes to contract Asbestos disease (known as the latency period) symptoms can appear anywhere from 12-60 years after the first exposure.

From the 1930s to the late 1980s, exposure to Asbestos was often an everyday occurrence for millions of our service members. Anyone who served in the Navy, Army, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, and National Guard may be eligible to file a claim.

If you qualify, we will NOT be pursuing any legal action against our military, our country, nor any branch of the armed forces. We will only be pursuing claims against the Asbestos manufacturers for the harm they knowingly caused in providing Asbestos-containing products to the United States armed forces.

Since 2007, Flint Law Firm has represented and gotten compensation for thousands of veterans. While you served, you protected our rights and freedoms. Please call us today so we can protect yours!

Navy Veterans Diagnosed with Mesothelioma from Asbestos Exposure

Up until the mid-1970s, these ships came already fabricated with the Asbestos containing materials. Any boat from that era that is dry-docked, repaired, or operated is a source of Asbestos contamination for the remainder of its operational life.

The construction and maintenance of these ships and facilities resulted in service members breathing asbestos-containing dust, which they may have even taken home to family members. Inhaling the fibers of Asbestos can cause Lung Cancer or Mesothelioma much later in life.

Air Force Asbestos Exposure and Mesothelioma Risk

Some high-performance replacement parts continue to require the use of Asbestos because the initial design specified (or spec'd) its use.

Maintenance of aircraft and facilities resulted in service members breathing asbestos-containing dust. Inhaling the fibers of Asbestos can cause Lung Cancer or Mesothelioma twenty to fifty years later in life.

Asbestos Exposure in the Army and Mesothelioma

For example, open-wheel mechanics in the Army worked on general-purpose vehicles like Jeeps that required the replacement of brakes, clutches, and engine gaskets on a regular maintenance schedule. The gasket and friction materials used in these repairs contained Asbestos. Even the most careful open-wheel mechanic would have breathed the dust involved in manipulating the replacement parts.

Similarly, all tracked vehicles used by the Army also have braking and clutch mechanisms which contained Asbestos. The manufacturer required a maintenance schedule and specified that all friction and gasket material be replaced at a certain number of usage hours. This work by Army mechanics and trained crew members led to regular exposures to Asbestos dust. Finally, Army bases worldwide constructed from the 1940s-1980s were built with Asbestos containing materials.

The building, repairing, or even performing a desk job in these buildings can lead to significant Asbestos exposure over the years. Tragically, the asbestos-containing dust can be carried home to family members on uniforms and clothing. Inhaling the fibers of Asbestos can cause Lung Cancer or Mesothelioma in the family much later in life.

If you served in the Army and have subsequently developed Mesothelioma or Asbestos Lung Cancer, please give us a call. There are several ways we may be able to help Army Veterans.

Asbestos Exposure in the Marine Corps & Mesothelioma Risk

Asbestos is on Naval Ships, Bases, and Shipyards. All ships commissioned before the 1980s contained Asbestos. Marines serve worldwide at bases and drydocks constructed with Asbestos resulting in them breathing asbestos-containing dust, which they may have taken home to family members. Inhaling the fibers of Asbestos can cause Lung Cancer or Mesothelioma much later in life.

If you served in the Marine Corps and have subsequently developed Mesothelioma or Asbestos Lung Cancer, please give us a call. There are several ways we may be able to help our Marines.

Coast Guard Veterans Asbestos Exposure & Mesothelioma Risk

Coast Guardsmen (and women) carry out their mission in both domestic and international waters.  Service in the Coastguard causes exposure to Asbestos through ship operation and maintenance. Asbestos is on Coast Guard Ships, Bases, and Shipyards.  All ships commissioned by the Coastguard before the 1980s contained Asbestos. Inhaling the fibers of Asbestos can cause Lung Cancer or Mesothelioma much later in life.

US Coastguard Cutters (Hamilton Class and Reliance Class) range from 220 to 378 feet in length. These Cutters have boilers, pumps, ice melters, and thousands of steam-pipe feet that require maintenance and repairs.  The insulation, gasket, and packing materials for the repairs were asbestos products until the 1980s. Maintenance of Coastguard ships and facilities resulted in service members breathing asbestos-containing dust.

If you served in the Coast Guard and have subsequently developed Mesothelioma or Asbestos Lung Cancer, please give us a call. There are several ways we may be able to help Coast Guard Veterans.

National Guard Veterans Asbestos Exposure and Mesothelioma

Asbestos is in all of our military bases, shipyards, and training facilities.  Working, training, and maintenance performed by the National Guard members resulted in service members breathing asbestos-containing dust, which they may have taken home to family members. Inhaling the fibers of Asbestos can cause Lung Cancer or Mesothelioma much later in life.

If you served in the National Guard and have subsequently developed Mesothelioma or Asbestos Lung Cancer, please give us a call. There are several ways we may be able to help veterans.

We Don't Sue the Military or the Government

We Do Not Sue the military or the government. Mesothelioma and other asbestos-related cancers in veterans are the responsibility of the asbestos manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers. These companies profited from the military even after they knew of the dangers of Asbestos.

It is not unpatriotic to fight back against companies that exposed you to Asbestos. Veterans diagnosed with Mesothelioma have the right to sue the companies for profiting from asbestos-containing products to our Armed Forces.
