Who Was Exposed To Asbestos?
(It Only Take A Few Seconds To Find Out How Much Money Is Available For Your Case)

Veterans have a higher mesothelioma diagnosis rate than the general population because Asbestos was used on military equipment and bases for most of the past century. The honorable men and women who serve in our nation's armed forces put themselves in harm's way. Tragically for many service members, harm can come in the form of service-related cancer from Asbestos exposure.

How Do You Know if You Qualify for Service-Related illness?

Veterans have served the United States in its time of need and deserve our appreciation and assistance. Flint Law Firm has helped thousands of veterans apply for and receive all the benefits to which they are entitled. Often veterans do not realize they qualify for significant financial assistance for service-related injuries, disabilities, or illnesses.

While veterans represent just 8% of our nation's population, veterans comprise 30% of all known Mesothelioma diagnoses in the country. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, there are currently more than 25 million people who have served in at least one of the United States military branches.

We at the Flint Law Firm are proud of this rich tradition. We count many of our families among those who have served their country. As a firm, we are happy to help our veterans in any way we can.

All veterans have been exposed to difficult working conditions, harmful chemicals, and carcinogens such as Asbestos at some point in their service. Since 2007, Flint Law Firm has helped veterans by investigating injuries and illnesses to determine if they qualify as service-related.

Sometimes the connection to the military exposure is evident; for example, a submariner who worked with insulation was diagnosed with Mesothelioma. Sometimes the injury is linkable but is not as obvious, like a veteran with hearing loss or lung cancer. Flint Law Firm would like the chance to speak with every Veteran to see how we can help.

How to file a VA claim and Other Benefits

Each branch of the military used asbestos products in areas where servicemen and women became Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma victims, along with other asbestos-related diseases.

There are many programs to assist Veterans who have a service-related illness. Unfortunately, this process is not straightforward and can be frustrating.

These Veterans' benefits are part of your compensation for service to the country. You earned them with honor. Let Flint Law Firm help.

Necessary Documentation Service for VA Claims:

  • Discharge Summary: You must have an honorable discharge from active duty from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or National Guard.
  • Military Work History (Form DD-214) - This must include job description, rating, and location. If you don't have a copy available, we will order one for you.

Medical History to File for VA Asbestos Claims:

  • A doctor will link medical records of your diagnosis to prove your asbestos diagnosis is service-related.
  • Medical Documentation of one of many possible diagnoses that include several types of cancers and breathing problems. Flint Law Firm will order these records.
If these apply to you, contact our firm today by dialing 1-855-883-6447 or email shelly@flintlaw.com. Shelly will be able to assist you with filing your claim online, or she can help you make an appointment with a Veteran's Service Organization or VA Regional Office in your area.

Veterans' Disability Award

A veterans' disability can award anywhere from $100-$3500 a month in tax-free monetary assistance. The amount of aid can be increased based on the severity of your disability and if you married or have a family. You can start your application by going to https://www.va.gov/disability/how-to-file-claim. If you need help with the application process, please call our Veterans' Advocate.

The disability can be based on Asbestosis, Lung Cancer, Mesothelioma, and many other service-related conditions. If you have a breathing condition or cancer that you may think is related to your time in the military, please call us to see if you qualify.

Special Monthly Compensation

Due to your exposure to Asbestos in the line of duty, you may also be entitled to additional payments from that Veteran's Administration called Special Monthly Compensation (SMC). This payment can apply to "Veterans as well as their spouses, surviving spouses, and parents with certain needs or disabilities." https://www.va.gov/disability/compensation-rates/special-monthly-compensation-rates/ This link also shows a table of the 2021 SMC benefits. It even includes reimbursement for travel related to your medical treatment.

Aid & Attendance Assistance

Dealing with Asbestos-related cancer is a strain on you and your family. The Veterans' Administration has an additional benefit called Aid & Attendance that provides money for home medical care, nursing home, rehabilitation, or assisted living costs. You may be required to be VA pension eligible to qualify, but it is definitely worth asking. Household benefits may also apply to a veteran with service-related cancer. Please give us a call to help you obtain the benefits you earned by your sacrifice.

How does a veteran qualify for an Asbestos-related claim or lawsuit?

Asbestos was omnipresent in all branches of the armed forces through most of the 20th century. Even today, there are vehicles, bases, aircraft, and ships that are still in service that contain Asbestos components. For a branch by branch list of possible sources of Asbestos exposure, read more here. To qualify for a civil asbestos claim or lawsuit, a veteran must have one of the following asbestos diagnoses:

Unlike Veteran disability awards, a civil Asbestos claim does not require an honorable discharge, only proof of service. When we file claims for veterans, it is done on a contingent fee basis, so no veteran ever has to pay Flint Law Firm out of their pocket.

Veterans Asbestos Exposure and Mesothelioma Diagnosis

We Don't Sue the Military or the Government

We Do Not Sue the military or the government. Mesothelioma and other asbestos-related cancers in veterans are the responsibility of the asbestos manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers. These companies profited from the military even after they knew of the dangers of Asbestos.
